Building a classroom for St. Davids Matriculation School in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu
Teacher Training College 'De Kempel' from Helmond, The Netherlands, has collected money to help St. Davids Matriculation School in Cuddalore to build one or two more classrooms. St. Davids, AMAIDI partner since the beginning, has taken up several Dutch teacher trainees since 2007.
Furniture, teaching aids and uniforms for AMAIDI Community School
The Amstelveen College in Amstelveen, The Netherlands, has helped AMAIDI Community School in Thiruvannamalai buying schoolfurniture, play- and teaching materials and notebooks and paid the necessary deposit for getting an electricity connection. Furthermore this Dutch higher secondairy school has paid for school uniforms for all the children and the construction of new window-grills at the frontside of the school.
Mother Theresa High School
(Then) teacher trainees Renee Boelaars, Annejet Blenkers and Milou Verbraak, with the support of the Dutch television station 'Zappelin' and the Dutch Lions Club 'De Graafschap' in Doetinchem, enabled Mother Theresa English School (now: High School) to shift from a garage box to a new school. From the funds they supplied, Mr. Charles Raj, headmaster, finished the school building, built toilets and a washing place, reconstructed a teachers' room and arranged for a playground. The first installment was given on March 2, 2007. The school occupied the new building at the start of the new schoolterm, in June the same year.
Rebuilding AMAIDI Community School
Through the Dutch (then) teacher trainee Renee Boelaars, the Lions Club 'De Graafschap' in Doetinchem, the Netherlands, supported Mrs. Suna Begum to reconstruct and expand her 'home school' in Thiruvannamalai from March 18 (handing over the first installment) till the opening on May 14 2007. Renaming it 'AMAIDI Community School', Mrs. Suna has regained the strength she had before when the school was functioning under a palmleaf roof.
