Search under 'projects' or 'location'
The starting point of your search is either a project area (for example 'agriculture' or 'children') or a particular location in India (for example 'Tamil Nadu' or 'Andhra Pradesh'). Click 'projects' or 'locations', next to 'about us' on the menu bar at the upper side of each page. Browsing through 'projects' will give you the choice to either directly explore the projects to get involved in ('projects') or general information that puts a certain project area (for example 'agriculture') in the typical Indian context. Browsing through 'locations', offers you the choice to either gain insight in the particulars of an Indian State or Union Territory ('Culture & People'), or to explore all the available projects in that State or Union Territory (for example all projects related to children in the Union Territory of Puducherry)

You will find the descriptions of the projects summarized in one single sentence, a so called 'one-liner', followed by one or more code numbers (for example 'Teaching English to children in nursery- and primary school 36-029, 25-061, 25-059'). The 'one liner' is thus a short reference to a project, where you can become involved in. The project code refers to a particular location and project organization. More code numbers indicate that this type of voluntary work or internship assignment is hosted by more than one project organization (in the mentioned example 'Teaching English' there are more than one nursery- and primary school in a particular location that would like to receive English teachers from abroad).

Ask for additional information enquiry
A one-liner is probably too compact to base your choice upon; therefore you can ask us to send you more detailed information regarding a few one-liners through an online query .

Fill up and send an application form
The extra project information will enable you to make a final choice for one or two projects ('first and second option'), to subsequently fill up the online application form and submit it from our website.

You're asked to make an advance payment towards AMAIDI's mediation fee
At this stage, in order to cover our initial expenses (see 'Terms and Conditions' general_condition), we request you to advance 25% of the mediation fee (see 'Pricelist').

We start contacting our partners on the basis of your first and second option.
As soon as we have received your application form and a confirmation of your money transfer, we will start to contact our partners hosting the projects of your first and second choice, using the information that you've sent us. We will be in touch with you through email, chat and - if necessary - phone contact throughout the process.

We keep you updated of our communications with our partners, finally informing you about which option is most viable for both volunteer and project partner.
After receiving your advance payment and while getting details of project-, accommodation and other related matters straightened out, we will invite you to join in and communicate with our project partners directly. AMAIDI will of course still be available for needed assistance of any kind.

We confirm your accommodation
If your destination is near Puducherry, South-India, you'll probably be staying for some time at AMAIDI Guesthouse. Click here if you want to read about prices. If you're destination is anywhere else, our partner will provide you with clean and comfortable (but no five star!) accommodation. In most cases this includes all meals, either cooked by a staff member of the hosting organization or taken care of by use of a nearby restaurant. Click here for more information regarding accommodation.

We send additional project- and other relevant information
But here's a word of caution: as people and their organizations change over time, so do their projects. The time between the settlement of your assignment and the day you start your work in India, might have changed ground reality - sometimes quite a bit - in spite of the care given to inform you as good as possible. Flexibility is the magic word...

We organize your pick-up (if desired)
AMAIDI has a car available to pick you up from (and bring you to) Chennai Airport.

We introduce you to 'culture-climate-kitchen' and your project organization
If you happen to work close to AMAIDI's office and guesthouse, you'll be joining our 'volunteer day', an orientation program to zoom in on aspects of work and culture. A short trip to neighboring Auroville and nearby Puducherry, as well as an occasional 'cultural program' is part of it. If you're working somewhere else in India, your host organization will introduce you to 'culture-climate-kitchen' in their own way.

We will be available for regular review of your work and while rounding off
During your work/study, we are always available to listen to your experiences, read intermediate reports or contact your project organization's contact person, if necessary. And we help you rounding off your project in a satisfying manner.

We're there for you afterwards as well (travel, onward stay, homeward journey)
 Travelling volunteers
When you plan to travel after your assignment is done, our travel partner Travelers' Choice or a travel agent sought by your host organization elsewhere in India will guide you where necessary. Making train, plane and bus ticket reservations for you, offering package deals or simply sit with you and talk over your own plan
